San Diego Area Carnivorous Plant Bog Gardens 1. Balboa Park: Located in the lattice Botanical Building, This 10X10 raised bog garden has a variety of carnivorous plants and even features some tropical Nepenthes hanging above. The Botanical Building is open daily, except for Thursdays and holidays, from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
2. San Diego Zoo: This large, recently-constructed bog contains a large number of carnivorous plants. Once at the zoo ask any staff member for directions to the Carnivorous Plant bog garden.
3. Walter Andersen Nursery-Poway: This beautiful carnivorous plant bog was built by SDCPS member Tom Dougherty, who works at the nursery. For directions, you can call the Nursery at (858) 513-4900. Say hello to Tom while you are there, and maybe you can buy some plants and supplies too. |
